Today we’re taking on Evelynn Lucian with the 4.2 patch.

This patch brought three big changes to the Evelynn kit that you may not have noticed. The first change is that Domination now has two points of health, making it more resilient to Pokey Sticks and Group Shots.

The second change is that Steem has been reworked to be a four cost card instead of the old version. This means that when you summon a one cost Ally, it grants vulnerable, a very powerful ability.

The third change is to Lucian himself. He used to be a two cost three two, but now he’s a one cost two one. This means that he can tie in with Domination to get the bonus attack when he comes on board, and he can also tie in with Steem to pass out the vulnerables. This makes him a quick attack Challenger. Evelyn and the husks are an easy way to get Lucian leveled up, but the other less obvious point is getting him up above one health. If you get the one husk onto Lucian, his survivability really goes through the roof.

This deck isn’t very aggressive. You get a lot of units on the board, but you’re really trying to develop incremental board advantage. You can’t just have Domination on the board and count on the husks to carry you through. You need two cards to really get the deck churning.
We have two copies of Rangers Resolve, two copies of Champion’s Strength, and Genevieve. Genevieve ties in with the Scout abilities from Steem and gives all of our units the plus one plus one to hopefully give us the remaining stats we need to come in and Crush our opponents.
We also have a pretty reasonable removal package with the three Hate Spikes, two copies of Single Combat, and one copy of Concerted Strike. If we manage to get multiple copies of Evelyn, the second Evelyn copy gives her access to a Strike ability. So that’s the deck we’re doing battle with today. Let’s jump on in and get started! Domination is ready to go!
