Battles with Bust #319 – Blue Gwen – Daily Rumble: Singleton

Today, we’re taking on the Singleton Daily Rumble. I think Aatrox is the best card in the format, but I wanted to explore some other decks. Aggro decks are always really good when a new format comes out. It’s much easier to just jam a bunch of Legion Rearguards into a deck than it is to fine-tune the numbers and figure out what removal you need and don’t need.

So, I decided to give aggro a go. My concern with playing aggro in a Singleton format is the density of good cards. It’s harder to get up to 10-12 really good one drops than it is in constructed. So, I’m playing Noxus, Shadow Isles, and Freljord. At its core, I’d describe this as more of a Gwen Sejuani kind of deck. We’re playing all the early game Hallowed units, Gwen, Darius, and Sejuani for late game overwhelms.

In terms of spells, I’m trying to keep things efficient with Ravenous Flock, Quietus, and Vile Feast. I’m also playing high impact spells like Spirits Unleashed.

In terms of units, we’ve managed to assemble a fine crew of nine or so one drops. After that, we’re looking to move into the overwhelms. We have the Ruthless Raider, Tusk Speaker, and then moving up the curve into the Ruined Reckoners, Fallen Reckoners, and Ancient Yetis.

So, that’s the deck we’re going to be playing with today. Let’s jump into battle and see if we can spike a game or two. I’m excited to see how this deck performs in the Singleton format. Aggro decks can be really powerful, but it’s all about finding the right balance of card quality and quantity. I’m confident that this deck will be able to hold its own in the Rumble.
