Today I’m doing battle with Neeko Teemo. We’ve been having a lot of fun playing Legends of Runeterra in this new Heart of the Huntress Standard format. Before we get into the deck list, I wanted to take a moment to talk about Neeko. In my previous video, I was a bit confused about how Neeko’s level up condition was attached to an attack ability, and then her level two ability was also attached to an attack ability. I wasn’t sure if we had to attack with Neeko to get her to flip, and then attack again on the next turn to get the plus one plus one, or if it all happened in conjunction. It turns out it all happens in conjunction, so we can make a single attack with Neeko and if that’s enough to make her flip, she’ll also grant the plus one plus one to our subtyped allies everywhere.
When building a deck around Neeko, there are two major questions to consider. First, how challenging is it to activate the subtyped abilities? Is it easy or hard to do? Do we need to include a lot of subtype stuff? Second, how bad is the deck if the subtype themes don’t come together? To answer the first question, it’s important to look towards Champions that have subtypes. We mentioned in our initial video looking towards the Bandle City Champions and the Shurima Champions. In Bandle City, you have the likes of Teemo and Gnar and all the Yordles, so you can branch out into other factions. You don’t have to play Bandle City, but it’s nice to have good cards with the subtype attached to them.

The second question is how do we actually win these games if the ability doesn’t come together? My problem with running with Demacia or just running stat based units is they don’t actually deal any damage. We need units that can elusive, overwhelm, or rally. With this P&Z team, we have access to a handful of elusives. We have Teemo and Daring Poro on the elusive aspect of the deck, Nico flips, and we have a handful of overwhelms between the Frostcoat Cub and the Bonehide Tri-tail. The Bonehide Tri-tail is going to be the absolute key to every single subtypes deck, perhaps even more so than Neeko.
Finally, we have the Darkin Harp. This is a very high utility card. We can load it up on a Challenger Bird and get a good quick attack challenge. We can load it up on a Neeko attack and not worry about her dying. It’s also a way to chip in some extra damage with an elusive. We’re also playing the full set of three Tufted Web Spinners and a burn package to help close out the game.
That’s the core idea of the deck. I’m ready for battle!
