Today, we’re going to delve into the world of Mount Targon Fizz. We’re just under two weeks into the Heart of the Huntress format, and it’s clear that the Mount Targon Fizz deck is currently the best in the format. Even with potential nerfs on the horizon, this deck has the potential to remain a strong contender in the meta.
When the format first started, everyone was playing Evelyn Siren’s Song. The strength of Siren Song was quickly recognized, and it was most commonly incorporated into an Evelyn deck. The strategy was to create one powerful super unit. For example, you’d play a Salter on turn two, follow up with Siren Song, and then play a Divine Clerk or Evelyn to boost your unit. However, players quickly found ways to counter this strategy, such as using stuns from Annie Jhin, Flame Chompers to hook it out of combat, or silences to neutralize the super unit.
This led to the rise of cards like Targonian Tellstones, Moonlit Affliction, and Sunburst. These cards were effective counters to the super unit strategy, and they significantly reduced the win rate of the Evelyn deck. The next evolution of the Siren Song deck is where we find ourselves now, with Fizz. This deck still utilizes Siren Song and has a large number of one drops, but it spreads out the stats among multiple units. This makes it more difficult for opponents to silence your units effectively.
One of the key additions to this deck is the Reaver’s Row. This card provides additional units and gives them a +2/+1 and fearsome ability. This allows us to set up boards where we can have 30 power of fearsome spread across six units. This is a stark contrast to the Evelyn deck, which focused on building one super unit.
In this version of the deck, we’re still using a large number of silences due to the prevalence of Xolaani. We’re also incorporating a lot of cycle cards to maximize our chances of drawing high impact cards like Siren Song and Reaver’s Row. We’re using cards like Guiding Touches, Pale Cascades, Eye of Nagakaborous, and Pool Sharks to achieve this.
The goal is to draw these high impact cards as early as possible and get them on the board. If we can draw two Siren Songs to our opponent’s one, we should be able to develop an advantage. If we draw one and our opponent draws none, then we definitely have an advantage.
In conclusion, the Mount Targon Fizz deck is a powerful contender in the current meta. It’s a deck that focuses on spreading stats among multiple units and drawing high impact cards as early as possible. It’s a deck that’s well-equipped to handle potential nerfs and changes in the meta. So, let’s jump in and see how it performs in battle.
