Want to Cast My Curses? – Morgana Galio – LoR Standard Deck

In this blog post, we will be discussing the latest cards and strategies in the popular video game Legends of Runeterra. In particular, we will focus on reviewing Morana and her formidableness, as well as other card synergies that have proven to be effective in gameplay.

  • Morana: Initially, it was expected that Morana would be easy to flip, given her ability to target units. However, in practice, it proved to be more challenging than anticipated. Despite this, Morana has shown great potential as a Tempo unit, especially against aggro decks. Furthermore, she is effective against ramp decks when used to shut down opponents’ big plays.
  • Curses: The curses mechanic has been highly impressive, with Magical Fettering exceeding expectations. This card gains significant tempo advantage by forcing opponents to burn mana or refrain from playing spells. Additionally, cards like Mage Seeker Inquisitor have proven useful with their suppression ability, shutting down opponents’ spell usage over multiple turns.
  • Faction Choice: While players are free to choose any faction, Targon has become a favored choice due to the prevalence of ramp decks in the current meta. Cards like Dark Binding and Yumi shine in countering opponents’ ramp plays, contributing to successful tempo swings.
  • Pale Cascade: Pale Cascade is a fine addition to the deck, offering card draw and a buff of +1/+1. Its versatility makes it a preferred choice over the plus two plus two stat buff.
  • Cataclysm Exclusion: Elder Dragon decks have become dominant, making it difficult to find suitable targets for Cataclysm in a deck focused on smaller units. Therefore, Cataclysm has been excluded from the current deck build.

In this overview of Legends of Runeterra, we have explored the strengths and weaknesses of Morana and her synergistic deck choices. While initial expectations did not align perfectly with gameplay realities, the deck has proven its effectiveness against various opponents, including aggro and ramp decks. Additionally, the curses mechanic and the cards associated with it have exceeded expectations in terms of power and tempo advantage. Ultimately, the choice of faction depends on the meta, and Targon has emerged as a strong contender due to its ability to counter ramp strategies prevalent in the game. Finally, while Cataclysm has been excluded from the current build, it remains a potential future inclusion based on the evolving meta.
