Today we’ll be discussing the Fiora Shyvana deck, a powerful and interesting deck that has been gaining traction in the competitive gaming scene. We’ll be taking a look at the deck list, as well as the competitive gaming scene in general.

Recently, the 4.1 patch was released, and with it came a buff to Shyvana. Now, she only needs 16 damage to flip, and she doesn’t even have to see the damage. This makes her much stronger in combat, and she generates the dragon single combat which only costs two mana instead of three.

We were pairing her off with Pantheon, and we were using the idea that the things that like to be targeted are the Fated units. It turns out that the Wounded White Flame is a Fated unit and also a dragon.
Recently, RubinZoo, the competitive lead at Riot, posted a tweet about his success with the Fiora Shyvana deck. He had 50 matches under his belt with an 84% win rate. If you head over to your favorite deck tracking site, you can find his deck list. It’s very similar to what we were looking to do with the Dragons, but with some additional equipment coming out of the Darkin Aegis.
RubinZoo is an exceptionally strong player, and he’s held the number one spot on the ladder multiple times. He’s won a Magic Pro Tour, 14 Grand Prix top eights, and two Star City Games wins. He’s also the one who put forth the Aphelios Fizz deck that was extremely dominant during seasonals right before it was nerfed into oblivion.
When you see people like RubinZoo post deck lists, it’s important to remember that they are better at the game than you. They’re able to carry high win rates with bad decks. It’s not to say that the things they’ve put forth aren’t particularly good, you just have to keep that idea in mind with a grain of salt.
When looking at RubinZoo’s deck list, there were a few things I didn’t like. I didn’t want to play the zero three dragon thing that draws a card when it gets struck, so I removed it from the deck. In its place, I added the Divine Clerk. I like the extra lifesteal advantage it gives, and it helps carry through some of the harder matches in the aggro space. I also think this deck runs into the problem of needing to have elusive, overwhelm, or rally.

To attack Norra, I think Fiora is a fantastic answer. It’s not the style of deck I typically play, but it’s a great innovation. Lastly, I added a single copy of Dragon’s Clutch. It’s nice to have access to giving all of our dragons overwhelm, and it can provide two dragon draw in a pinch. Now that we’ve discussed the deck list, let’s jump into battle! I don’t think we’ll be hitting Masters on this account today, but maybe we can get close. Let’s see what we can do!
