Welcome to the first video of the 4.2.0 patch, also known as the 420 patch! Riot has released a variety of new cards, balance changes, buffs, and nerfs to shake up the meta. Today, we’re going to be showcasing the new cards and discussing how to take advantage of them.
One of the cards we’re most excited about is Banana Blaster. This card is a 2-2 for four mana, which can be used to pick off a unit that’s already taken some damage. That’s not particularly exciting on its own. To make the most of it, we’re going to be using the Spirits Unleashed. This card gives permanent bonuses to all units, so even if we draw the Banana Blaster late, it will still have bonus stats.
We’re also going to be taking advantage of Norra’s portals. Nora can generate a lot of value, but the summoned units can be a bit weak. With the bonus from the Spirits Unleashed, however, these units become much stronger. We’re also using Yordle Captain and Gift of the Hearthblood to tie into both strategies, giving our units bonuses while also drawing a card.
With the Nerf to Atrocity, a core OTK card, we don’t have to worry about it anymore. This opens up the possibility of grind-fest style control decks, and Nora Braum may have a chance to shine. We’re also playing Pack Mentality, which gives us a big OTK style of attack regardless of what units we’ve summoned.
Overall, the 4.2.0 patch is a great way to shake up the meta and give players new strategies to explore. We’re excited to see what new decks and strategies players come up with, and how they take advantage of the new cards.
