Welcome to the first post-rotation Standard video! Today, we’re taking a look at the new Pirates deck and the power of Samira. It’s no secret that Samira is incredibly powerful, and it’s likely that she’ll be nerfed in the next balance patch
This Pirates deck is similar to the decks of the past two and a half years, but with some new cards. We’re playing Samira and Darius, and leaving Miss Fortune at home. We’re also playing a wide range of spells, including All Out, Stylish Shot, Heavy Metal, and Pirouette. All Out is a great combat trick that usually gives you plus +2|+2, while Stylish Shot is a powerful card that can be used to bridge from the mid game to the late game. Heavy Metal is great for taking down Samira, and Pirouette is a one mana spell that kills a unit and stuns another.
We’re also playing Noxian Fervor, Barbed Chain, Jagged Butcher, Crimson Pigeon, Elegant Edge, Marai Warden, Daring Demolisher, and Dashing Dandy. Jagged Butcher and Crimson Pigeon are old standbys, while Elegant Edge is a new card that usually isn’t played until the third turn. Marai Warden is another classic standby, and Daring Demolisher is great for activating Plunder or doubling up on a Plunder effect. Finally, Dashing Dandy is a 4|4 overwhelm for three that can get additional upgrades from the Daring Demolisher.
Overall, this Pirates deck is a great way to take advantage of the new cards and the power of Samira. It’s a familiar deck with familiar gameplay patterns, but with some new cards that make it even more powerful. We’ll have to wait and see if Samira gets nerfed in the next balance patch, but until then, have fun with this deck!
