Today, we’re going to be doing battle with Leona Aurelion Sol in the 4.3 patch. The Glory for Navori is here, and we’re going to try out some of the new cards and see how it goes.

The current meta is dominated by the Samira Fizz deck. It’s tough to tell on day one if this is a deck that will really take over the format, or if it’s just the best aggro deck. I think the meta is going to shape up with the deck that does the absolute fastest thing shooting up to the top. You can have your deck be a little bit more consistent, and everyone else’s deck is inconsistent too, so you can come in and pick on those matchups.
Samira is arguably the best card in the game, and it’s going to be a fixture in the meta for the next month. But I think the Samira Fizz deck is going to fall off a little bit. It’s still going to be the premiere aggro deck, but it’s going to slow down. People are packing cards like Heavy Metal, which means they’re not just going to be the burstiest deck in the format.
Leona Aurelian Seoul is a powerful mid-rangey tool. There are typically two separate flavors of Leona decks running around. In the past, we’ve seen Leona paired up with Katarina for the Sunburn style deck, and Leona paired up with Aurelion Sol as a more mid-rangey style deck.
What I think is good against the Fizz deck right now is lifesteal and cards like Hush. You can’t place slow or fast speed removal spells against Fizz, so you need burst cards to get in front of him. That’s why we’re playing Hush here today. Lifesteal is also surprisingly good against the deck. If you’re able to slow them down enough, you can gain five or eight health across the course of a few turns, which is more than they’re able to overcome.
The deck we’re playing today includes Cosmic Youngling, Solari Priestess, Solari Sunforger, and Search Warrant. Cosmic Youngling can realistically prevent seven to nine damage against the Fizz deck, and give us the time we need to get our big units on board. Solari Priestess can generate the Golden Sisters, which give us the useful elusive along with the lifesteal unit. Solari Sunforger is a standard lifesteal unit, and Search Warrant is a nice interactive spell.
We’re hoping to come out on top with this deck today. It has the lifesteal and burst cards we need to get in front of Fizz, and the mid-rangey style to take advantage of the late game. We’ll see how it goes!
