Welcome to Battles With Bust Number 335, where today we’re doing battle with Jack Jarvan! Jack is one of the new Champions from Glory to Navori, and I’ve been trying to make him work in a variety of decks, but I just wasn’t happy with any of it. None of it really felt that strong, and I wasn’t sure how to make it work. Recently, however, I saw Twitter user dysislucia, talking about using Jack in a Brash focused deck. This was something I hadn’t considered before, but it made a lot of sense.
The idea was to put Barknuckles onto the Blocking Badger Bear, then play Jack and Angel on the following turns. Angel is a 6/5 Brash unit for five, so if you’re not playing a lot of meaty units, you can’t block any of that. This gives you a lot of high-powered plays, but I can’t bring myself to play a five Mana do nothing unit like Angel.
I have taken some changes to the deck, however. I think Grumble Slug is fantastic in this format, as it gives you an additional point mana while also surviving Mystic Shot at 3 health. This is great in a meta where everyone is trying to kill Samira. I’ve also added Champion Strength, as it’s important to hit those rallies.
I’m also looking to get the Sweet Barknuckles down onto Night Ranger Defector combo. We’ll just have to see how it goes!
