Today, we’re diving into the thrilling world of Legends of Runeterra, specifically focusing on the Ruthless Rumble. Although I had initially planned to participate in the Mastering Runeterra Open Event, a family event took precedence. However, I’m thrilled to be back in the gaming arena, ready to share my strategies and insights with you.
In this post, we’ll be exploring three decks: Fizz Mount Targon, Jax Ornn, and Samira Pantheon. We’ve previously covered these decks in the standard format, so today, we’ll focus more on the lineup and matchups. Initially, my strategy was to ban the Fizz deck, considering it’s one of the strongest in the format. However, after numerous matchups, I’ve found that it’s not always necessary. The Jax Ornn deck, with its flash freezes and overwhelm package, can effectively counter the Fizz deck. Similarly, the Samira Pantheon deck, with its silences and overwhelm capabilities, can also hold its own against Fizz.
However, there are certain decks that pose a challenge. For instance, Samira Jinx is particularly strong against both Jax Ornn and Samira Pantheon. Similarly, decks like Heimerdinger Jayce can also be problematic due to their control deck space. Therefore, depending on what our opponents bring to the table, we might consider banning these decks.
Now, let’s delve into the specifics of our decks. The Fizz Mount Targon deck we’re playing is a cycle-heavy version, which I find particularly effective. It’s crucial to draw your Siren Songs and Reaver’s Rows, and the additional card draw from Guiding Touches, Pale Cascades, and Eye of Nagakaborous significantly boosts consistency.

Next up is the Jax Ornn deck. Here, we’re using both Ruthless Raider and Bellows Breath to counter go-wide defensive strategies. Bellows Breath is especially potent against opposing Fizz decks, as it can remove multiple units even after a Siren Song hits the board.

Lastly, we have the Samira Pantheon deck. This deck features a heavy two-drop package, including Samira the Youngling, the Cultist, and the Sacrificial Scholar. This provides us with early game blockers and plays against more aggressive decks. Additionally, we’re using three Targonian Tellstones and two Blinded Mystics as our silence package, which can be incredibly effective against decks like Illaoi Swain.
