Today I’m going to be talking about a deck that should be on your radar if you’re interested in Best of Three: Gangplank Sejuani. With the Mastering Runeterra Open and the Riot Runeterra Opens coming up in the Eternal format, it’s important to be familiar with this deck, even if you don’t plan on playing it.

Gangplank Sejuani is a Champion-focused deck, with both Champions sharing the same level up condition of damaging the enemy Nexus across five separate rounds. Both Champions have powerful level up abilities, with Sejuani shutting down any attack the opponent can send and Gangplank nuking the opposing board with his AOE Cannon barrage.
In terms of spells, the deck has the full sets of Warning Shot, Make It Rain, Parlay, and Spirits Unleashed. All of these cards are capable of dealing damage to the opposing Nexus, and are easy to play in the early game. We also have the Tusk Speaker, which is a critical component in terms of leveling up our Champion since it can deal damage to the opposing Nexus when we don’t have the attack token.
The big change I want to talk about is Father Fury, which is a great spot for flex capability. Father Fury has Elusive, so he can come down on turn two and attack unblocked to get that Nexus strike in and help level up our Champions. He also gives us another angle of attack, with Zap Sprayfin and Spirits Unleashed. Both of these units boosted by Spirits Unleashed can come in for six damage of Elusive, which can close out a game if the opponent isn’t ready.
Gangplank Sejuani was a very popular deck two seasons ago, and it doesn’t have any bad matchups. As we enter Best of Three, Pirates are likely to be the best deck in the format, and having a deck that is even to slightly favored against Pirates while not carrying a ton of bad matchups is incredibly powerful. It gives you that middle ground deck that you can assume won’t get banned and won’t have any bad matchups.
So that’s the deck! I hope this has been helpful in getting you familiar with Gangplank Sejuani. Good luck in your Best of Three adventures!
