Swain Gnar – Unleash the Birds! – LoR Eternal Deck

Today I’m going to be doing battle with Gnar Swain and the overwhelms. Swain hasn’t seen much play in the Eternal format lately, but I think he should be exceptionally strong against the decks that are flooding the board with cheap units.

Gameplay Video

Swain, The Leviathan, Ravenous Flock, and Pirouette form the core of the deck. The Leviathan can draw Swain and work well in a go-wide environment, while Ravenous Flock is one of the premier removal spells. Pirouette ties in nicely with everything that Swain is trying to do, whether it’s a small damage ping to level up Swain or to set up a big attack or Ravenous Flock.

Decklist

For this deck, I’m looking to bring Swain into the lands of Eternal and see if I can have some success with an aggressive overwhelm style shell. I think the problem with Swain is that he’s not aggressive enough to fit into an aggressive base deck, but he’s also too slow to go against the big control heavy style decks. So I’m focusing on the aggression with this deck.

To do that, I’m using Crimson Pigeons, Legion Rearguard, and Omen Hawk as my nine one-drops for the early game. Then I have six two-drops in the form of Ruthless Raider and Tusk Speaker to start activating my overwhelm package. I’m also using Spirits Unleashed to tie everything together. It’s a fantastic card in this style of deck, as it can get me at least plus six on my Swain anytime I cast it. I’m also using Noxian Fervor to get some chip damage in early, as well as Imperial Demolitionist to help level up my Swain and activate my Pirouettes. Finally, I’m using Revna to boost the entirety of my units and a single copy of Battle Fury for some late game punch.

So that’s the deck I’m going to be doing battle with today. Wish me luck as I head into the queue and see if I can get some good games!
