Backpack Battles #607: Ranger Class Strategy with Vine Weave Basket

Hey everybody, it’s Bust here with another episode of “Battles With Bust.” Today, we dive into Backpack Battles, focusing on the Ranger class. For the past couple of days, I’ve been experimenting with what I consider the worst bag in the game—the Vine Weave Basket—and the Yagil Leaf, which I believe is the worst subclass item. Despite the challenges, I wanted to present my findings and share some strategies for making the most out of these items.

**Understanding the Yagil Leaf and Vine Weave Basket**

The Yagil Leaf seems promising at first glance. If you have six nature items affected by the buff, you can kick off with 12 mana and six hearts. This should theoretically give you a significant advantage at the start of the battle. However, finding items that synergize well with both mana and hearts is challenging.

**Building Around the Yagil Leaf**

The most consistent way I’ve found to utilize the Yagil Leaf is by focusing on heart containers. Starting each battle with two heart containers, the Yagil Leaf, and three or four healing herbs allows you to gain 180 health and four empowered right at the beginning. This setup provides a solid foundation for your build.

**Challenges with the Yagil Leaf and Vine Weave Basket**

The main issue with the Yagil Leaf and Vine Weave Basket is the lack of high-powered items that synergize well with them. Items like Bloodthorn or Hungry Blade are useful but not optimal for a heart-focused build. Additionally, the lightsaber’s ability to drain hearts doesn’t stack, limiting its effectiveness.

If you decide to focus on mana instead of hearts, the options are limited. The Magic Staff is a decent early to mid-game item, but finding mana orbs early on can be difficult. Late-game options like the Dark Saber are better but still not ideal.

**Early Game Strategy**

In the early game, it’s crucial to be aggressive with your rolls to find a good weapon and other useful items. For instance, starting with a short bow and picking up items like healing herbs and bananas can help you sustain through the initial rounds. Selling less useful items like the Amulet of Alchemy can also give you a boost.

**Mid to Late Game Adjustments**

As you progress, it’s essential to adapt your strategy based on the items you find. For example, picking up a Thorn Whip can provide a way to use empowered effectively. However, gaining empowered isn’t always beneficial as it only offers a small health bonus.

In the mid to late game, focus on items that provide sustain and scaling. The Shield of Valor and Mana Orb can be excellent additions, allowing you to build towards stone armor. This setup can help you gain significant health and armor, providing a solid defense.

**Final Thoughts**

Despite the challenges, it’s possible to make the Yagil Leaf and Vine Weave Basket work with the right strategy. The key is to focus on sustain and scaling, using items like heart containers and healing herbs to gain an early advantage.

However, it’s important to note that this build is far from optimal. Healing is generally a weaker strategy compared to dealing damage, and the items available for this build are not particularly strong. If you’re looking for a more effective build, consider focusing on other items and strategies.

In conclusion, while the Yagil Leaf and Vine Weave Basket present significant challenges, they can still be used effectively with the right approach. If you have any tips or strategies for using these items, feel free to share them. And as always, I hope you enjoyed the video and learned something new. Thanks for watching!
